Well, some people see artistic residue [music, poems, and so on] as a
*product* that they should get paid for, like it was a pair of shoes of
something.

And some people see this residue as capturing more nebulous stuff
[meaning] that is not about commerce [most times].

You can guess which one I'd subscribe to, although I have no problem
with folks who want to create [or profit] from products.

However, it seems wrong that their monetary concerns drive competing
products or technologies out of the market.
