No, the Sunset is not on Comm. Ave; it's on Brighton Ave. The B branch of the Green Line runs on Comm. Ave., so you have to walk a bit to get to the Sunset. You get off at Harvard St., walk toward your right (with the direction of the train as the reference - in other words, toward the river) until you reach the next big street, turn left, and it's a short distance up the street on the left side. It would have been right on the A branch of the Green Line. But the A train hasn't run since 1969, and the tracks are gone now. There is a bus that runs along the route of the former A train, but the walk from Comm. Ave. is short enough that it's not worth the trouble of catching the bus. It is a bit of a trip to get out there, though. The other places that have been mentioned are more convenient to reach by T. On the other hand, some of them (especially Harvard Square) are really tough on the people who choose to drive; no parking. One appeal of the Cambridge Brewing Company (One Kendall Square) is that it's easy to get to by both car and T. I'll express a vote against John Harvard's. The place is just too noisy to actually manage to carry on much of a conversation, even if you're in one of the private rooms! (They're not walled in all the way around.) Fire and Ice (Harvard Square) has a nice private room that we might be able to get if we can promise enough people. The place that replaced the Brew Moon in Harvard Square might also be worth a look. I haven't been to Boston Brew Works (Fenway, and a new location near North Station), so I wouldn't mind trying that. And it's the right time of year to go; the area is a zoo when the Sox are playing.
