way back when, back before perl was even a twinkle
in Larry Wall's eye, I ran into this poem somewhere
on the 300 baud internet:

I really hate this darn machine,
I wish that they would sell it.
It never does what I want,
but only what I tell it.

Which pretty much summed up the point where
people were most frustrated with computer languages
at the time. With the advent of Perl and with
"Do What I Mean" becoming the standard practice
perhaps the poem should be rewritten.

I can despise this perl machine
though many often flaunt it,
cause when it Does What I Meant,
it's not always what I wanted.

Although perl would likely write it as a haiku.
(Dont ask me why a haiku, its just the way it is.)

"Do What I Mean" and
Autovivification
aren't what I wanted.
