. . . I have an incoming form that requests a search for a LOT of information. Because we're not google here it could take anywhere from 2 to 15 seconds for the reply to be generated and returned. Therefore, I would like to send a page that has an animated gif image along with some kind words that the user can see and not become spastic because their request is taking longer than instantaneous. FWIW, the MIT on-line campus map (http://whereis.mit.edu/map-jpg) uses a <TD> element with a background image specified via an inline style sheet; the background shows until the requested map image can be constructed/served/displayed over it. But that technique might be hard to apply to textual content, since the space between the glyphs is not drawn, and therefore wouldn't obscure the background. (But if you find a way to make it work, I'd be curious to know how.) -- Bob Rogers http://rgrjr.dyndns.org/ _______________________________________________ Boston-pm mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.pm.org/mailman/listinfo/boston-pm
