Steve and crew,
...It would seem to me that our friends at CPAN wasn't happy with the
joke-modules in regular-namespace, either, as XML::Simpler seems to have
disappeared from the author's directory completely (?) and Inline::PERL is
now ACME::Inline::PERL (which seems a better place to me). I don't know
if these changes were made by the authors or by CPAN gods, but a "thanks"
is probably in order. In my view, jokes on (or after) April 1 are all
fine and good, but otherwise when somebody has little reasonable
expectation that a module will be a joke, CPAN shouldn't be giving them
jokes. ('Course, on another day when I'm less grumpy and hepped up on
cold meds, I might claim otherwise. :->)
I was curious whether joke-modules usually came out on april first; the
answer seems to be "not much".
there are a few at:

and
http://search.cpan.org/recent?d=20010401
including the wonderful DNA module by Schwern
http://search.cpan.org/recent?d=20020401
oddly, HTML::LoL (construct HTML from pleasing Perl data structures)
isn't a joke module. With a name like LOL, the description, and the
date, you might think it was though.
..and who can forget ACME::Inline::Parrot?
