Web based FTP? Eh? Would the web server really be acting as the client here [huh?], or do you want people to be able to use FTP clients to access files on a web server? I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to accomplish, but I *think* that WebDAV may do what you want: it allows you to export web directories so that they can be mounted on client machines as if they were network resources like Samba or NFS shares, with read/write access to the contents of the directory and so on. It's neat stuff. If you really mean you want to have a FTP client running on a web server, it would help to have a clearer idea what you mean by this. Do you want people to FTP files from random remote FTP servers over to your web server? If so, what would that accomplish?
