Thunderbird does that, too.
Several attachments? Now that seems odd since there should only be one ... hmmm, there are some markers in the text which are maybe interpreted as separating attachments? Well, at least Eudora keeps it there so you can read it.
When you had the signature there, the whole message was, I guess, MIMEd into pieces and in addition to the digital signature, the list footer was shown as an attachment, too. So at the bottom of the Thunerbird message were icons for two attachments. However, the list footer was also shown inline at the same time.
