Job Description: The successful candidate must be a solution-oriented technical professional who has extensive experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining web-based applications in accordance with business requirements. This position will require that you manage and mentor a small team of developers through the application development process, while rolling up your sleeves and contributing directly as a developer yourself. The Senior Developer provides technical assistance and direction to the project team regarding specifications, design issues, development guidelines, and testing. This position will work primarily with Perl, but also with a variety of other technologies and will maintain responsibility for the development and evolution of mission-critical applications and systems. The duties of the Senior Software Engineer will include front end development with multiple tools such as Apache, Perl, mod_perl, and other emerging tools, in addition to back-end development using relational database tools and techniques. Familiarity with Linux systems administration is required. In addition to development of new code, responsibilities include maintaining and enhancing existing web applications developed under an architecture consisting of Linux, Apache, Perl CGI, mod_perl, and MySQL. This position requires active involvement in internal and external technical support, and ownership of deliverables from beginning to end. This is a challenging position which requires the ability to translate business needs into web & component-based applications using a variety of technologies. Excellent organization and communication skills will be key for this role. Requirements: * Strong analytical, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills. * Act as a technical lead for a small team of developers through the design and implementation of the applications. * Excellent technical and coding skills. * Substantial experience and proficiency using several of the following tools: Linux, Apache, Perl, mod_perl, MySQL, CVS, CGI.pm, CGI::Application, DBI, and Class::DBI. * Some Linux systems administration experience required. * Familiarity with MySQL and relational database concepts in general. * Ability to specify, implement and deliver solutions for multi-faceted technical problems. * Ensure that the members of a team execute assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner in order to meet project time frames and client expectations. * Must be a strong team player and able to learn new technologies. Qualifications: Professional Experience & Credentials: * Must have degree in a related technology field, bachelors preferred. * Must have at least 5 years of software development experience. * Good professional references a must. * Experience in consulting or within a software development company a strong plus. * The strongest candidates will also have experience in healthcare or long-term care, and will possess an understanding of the issues facing these industries, now and in the future.
