Here is an email I received internally regarding the shortlist of languages for future software development. I must add that this is a corporate environment.

Is "a corporate environment" code for "a company"? Cos I can name about a zillion companies that use perl every day. We can start the list with Morgan Stanley, who your stupid suit should have heard of.

Strong typing has its place. I've been caught out countless times by perl's gung-ho approach to typing. I'd quite like a lexically scoped pragma which would, eg, prevent numbers and strings from mixing.

Actually, there is a hidden agenda to standardize on C# here!

Oh, if there's politics involved, then whoever this is has already made up their mind and there's no point arguing. Let them shoot themselves in the foot.

I added Cold Fusion as a web language. It is also a widely used web language and has the characteristics we listed. I would prefer it more than PHP."

OK, that's a sure sign that the brain has left the building.

Oh, if you're talking puppies, the best way to serve them (IMO) is as
puppy sashimi - flip 'em on their backs, tie their little paws down,
and then cut open the belly and make strips of the nice, tender meat.
The whimpers while you eat enhance the experience.
