if you haven't heard yet, google is doing a summer of code. they are
sponsoring students to work on open source projects and you can earn
$4500 this summer if you are accepted and produce stuff. the perl
foundation is one of the approved sponsoring groups. here is their page
on this:

        http://www.perlfoundation.org/gc/grants/proposals.html

look at the bottom for a list of project ideas. i have a couple of ideas
if you want some.

google's page on this is:

        http://code.google.com/summerofcode.html

so all you poor students around here can actually earn some decent money
for hacking perl stuff this summer. the application deadline is june 14
so get working on those proposals.
