PROGRAMMER ANALYST/SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR - TUSK, School of Medicine

Tufts University Science Knowledgebase, TUSK, is an innovative curriculum
repository/knowledge management system which serves the health science
schools at Tufts University.  In addition to its knowledge management
functions it interfaces with administrative systems to provide students
with course schedules, personal folders and on-line course evaluation.  New
initiatives will grow the TUSK infrastructure in several directions; to
better serve the needs of Tufts users, to interface with external data
repositories and digital libraries, and to develop and adapt TUSK
technology in accordance with developing open source standards.

The Programmer Analyst/Systems Administrator:
* Manages the TUSK and Tufts-OCW servers, which are built by the University
  Systems Group, USG, and jumpstart service.
* Builds and updates application and library packages needed to run TUSK,
  proactively resolves issues with servers, creates scripts to automate
  maintenance processes, configures new or rebuilt TUSK servers, and adds
  hardware and works with USG to have machines built and patched.
* Schedules downtime for server updates and performs updates during the
  service window.
* Serves as an integral part of installing TUSK in remote locations, and
  works on preparing TUSK code to be more easily configurable for remotes
  installations.
* Interacts with TUSK staff and USG to maintain and update servers.
* Develops user-friendly web-based applications within the Tufts University
  Science Knowledgebase - a web application backed by SQL databases, Apache
  web server and Perl programming.
* Creates enhanced functionality and easier user interaction for TUSK
  users.
* Provides Unix and database support for TUSK and assists TUSK staff in
  developing support and training materials for faculty.

Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree in computer science or relevant computer programming
  experience.
* Must have expertise in Apache, MySQL, Perl applications, and Solaris
  operating systems.
* Must be knowledgeable of Mason, HTML, CSS, Javascript, XSLT, and embperl.
* Should be enthusiastic about learning new technologies.
* Must be able to work independently and on a team, have friendly
  interaction with users, and meet deadlines.
* Must have superior technical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
