I'm the Director of Software Architecture and Programming at Brandeis
University.  We're in the process of expanding the group and are seeking
Perl programmers to work on a contract to hire basis.  The posting

About the position:

Brandeis University's central IT organization seeks an experienced
LAMP developer to maintain existing systems, and develop new
applications to support the complex needs of our faculty, staff and
students.

Responsibilities:

S/he should be comfortable and productive working with limited direct
supervision, and determining his/her own priorities and schedules.

S/he will maintain existing systems, which include product
customizations and internally developed applications.  S/he will work
with staff to understand existing deficiencies and implement creative
solutions. S/he will create and maintain twiki system documentation for
existing applications.

S/he will develop new applications within the Brandeis architecture
(based on LAMP, that P's for Perl).  Responsibilities include
participation in the entire development lifecycle (requirements,
design, implementation, testing and deployment).

S/he will seek to recognize the changing needs of the institution and
work with senior development staff to address them.

S/he will provide high-level support and coordination to departmental
staff and advanced users in other departments.

Requirements:

Required Experience/Skills (minimum):

3 years demonstrable experience developing robust web sites and
services in Perl on Linux platforms
1 year LAMP development, along with PHP, LDAP, SVN, XMLRPC and SOAP

Desirable Experience/Skills

TCL, WebCT, Peoplesoft, and Oracle

Job Location:

In Waltham, near the Newton/Weston border, a 2 minute walk from the
Brandeis/Roberts commuter rail station.
