CSCI E-13 Practical Perl

Location: Maxwell Dworkin G135 
Meeting Time: Monday, 7:35-9:35 pm

Perl is described as the Swiss army knife of programming languages. 
This course emphasizes practical applications of Perl: data 
manipulation and analysis, report generation, web programming, and 
integration of databases for use in these applications. Emphasis is 
on writing idiomatic, correct, and maintainable Perl in a Unix 
environment. Other topics may include the Apache web server and its 
mod_perl extension, XML, HTML::Mason, and performance analysis.

Responsibilities would include:

o Attending weekly lectures
o Leading weekly, 1-hour sections, for < 20 students of your own
  either on a weeknight or Saturday afternoon
o Leading occasional review sessions
o Preparing section/review materials
o Grading  problem sets,  exams, final project
o Attending weekly staff meeting
o etc.

Total time commitment tends to be <= 10 hrs / week, September 2006 - January
2007.

Compensation tends to be ~ $2300.
