This position is for one of my favorite companies. They are located in
Cambridge, and are growing with just over 90 employees. Their product is a
personalization solution for Web, Mobile, and TV and their clients are
leading entertainment and retail companies.  This position is ideal for one
who has an interest in movies, television and/or e-commerce/retail.

This is a newly created position to join a team of 8-10 content
engineers. Key skill needed is Perl and they will ask that interested
candidates take a Perl test as part of the screening.

Primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  Assist in ensuring that products meet quality standards with respect to
  the content recommended to specific users.

  Develop and trouble-shoot technical tools for our Content Analysis Team.

  Coordinate efforts within the team to create and maintain up to date
  technical documentation.

  Execute and expand automated tests of recommendation quality, and create
  reports on results.

  Work with Software & QA Engineers to ensure that test environments and
  software builds support Content testing.

  Maintain an understanding of the function of algorithms in product
  development.

  Analyze content and user data for use in development and testing

Requirements:

This position requires strong analytical skills and problem-solving
abilities. Experience working independently and in a team environment is
important.  Technical Qualifications include:

  3-5 years work experience that must include the following: 
  o Exposure to software Quality Assurance practices.
  o Experience in programming with Perl.
  o Proficient in both UNIX and Windows environments.
  o Proficiency with Linux (bash) command-line tools.
  o Knowledge of web-based/Internet applications.
  o Familiarity with databases, such as SQL.
  o Experience with XML and XSL. 

  At least 1-2 years work experience with basic software development and
  the software development life cycle.

  Experience with the implementation of algorithms in the software
  development context.

  We will give higher consideration to candidates with the following
  experience:
  o software QA and testing, including writing test cases and tracking bugs.
  o basic familiarity with calling web services using REST or RPC.
  o programming with DBI. 

General Qualifications: 

  Focus, energy and enthusiasm for creating high-quality software products.

  Knowledge and interest in primary personalization domains -- movies,
  television, music, retail.

  Knowledge of statistics is highly preferred. 

  Strong communication and documentation skills.

  Candidate must be flexible, adaptable to changing priorities, and have
  experience in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.

  Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 

This is a permanent position, salary range is 60-85k depending on experience.
