PERL DEVELOPER

Location: Newton (no telecommuting)
Duration: 4-6 weeks (contract)
Pay Rate: $30-50 an hour based on experience
Industry: Financial Services

Responsibilities:
  * Work closely with project managers and the development team to
    implement new features and functionality, encompassing both
    web-based and backend scripts.
  * Revise, refactor, and maintain existing code with an emphasis on
    improving performance, security, and readability.
  * Collaborate with user interface and graphic designers to apply
    appealing and intuitive front-ends to Perl, web-based
    functionality.
  * Aid in the creation of clear and carefully planned specifications
    that address all business requirements, user interfaces, process
    flow, performance, and scalability.
  * Participate in all stages of the development life-cycle including
    architecture, design, implementation, and unit testing.

Minimum Requirements:
  * At least 3 years experience developing Perl-based web applications
    and scripts, running in a Windows environment.
  * At least 3 years of SQL experience including efficient query
    writing, prepared statements, and database access with DBD/DBI.
  * Thorough understanding of object-oriented design concepts, and
    Model-View-Controller (MVC) paradigm, and experience building
    reusable modules.
  * Strong understanding of HTML 4.0/XHTML 1.0, CSS 2.1+, DHTML, and
    JavaScript.
  * Experience with version control software including CVS, SVN, or
    Git.
  * Proven experience as a team leader and self-starter, possessing
    excellent technical and organizational skills.
  * Possess the ability to manage time, meet sensitive deadlines, and
    assume ownership of responsibilities.
  * Bachelor's degree CS/Engineering or related field
