This is a contract position which renews on an annual basis. The Extension School classes have a weekly two-hour evening lecture, along with additional weekly sections taught by teaching assistants during the 14-week semester. Students would be required to have basic programming experience before enrolling, and be expected to complete a variety of programming assignments, along with a midterm and final exam. The most recent listing in the course catalog was as follows: Perl is described as the Swiss army knife of programming languages. This course emphasizes practical applications of Perl: data manipulation and analysis, report generation, web programming, and integration of databases for use in these applications. Emphasis is on writing idiomatic, correct, and maintainable Perl in a Unix environment. Other topics may include the Apache web server and its mod_perl extension, XML, HTML::Mason, and performance analysis. Interested applicants are also welcome to propose their own description.
