S&S is decent value IMO and has a reasonable bar and beer
selection. they are not a brew pub or real beer bar but the food is
good, the menu enormous and they have free parking (with a token you get
from them). also walking distance from central on the red line. it can
be noisy and i prolly wouldn't recommend it for a social.

now that is pricy IMO. been there only about three times or so and the
food is top level but not cheap. also a poor place for a group (we did a
small social there with bdf a few years ago. plusses are on the red line
and lots of free parking. the atmosphere is modern funky seafood. metal
picnic tables are not fun to sit on for a real dinner.

not a great food place but there is a bertucci's at alewife. could be
change of pace for a social meeting. we have been to cbc many times over
the years.

we did redbones once and that was fun. one day we should do a party in
someones place and get blue ribbon to cater. we did that for a damian
party way back when he was teaching classes here (and i was producing
them).

i have been to tavern in the square in central for a meetup of IT types
looking for jobs. very noisy and the food was so-so. some of the
meetings did get a private room which helped. not a place i would aim
for.

christophers is always popular with decent food and beer. parking can be
painful but it is on the redline.
