To my mind, the best reason to dine at Grendel's is to celebrate their historic supreme court victory for separation of Church & State.
(Though some migh perefer to celebrate anglo-saxon arts and letters, or monster rights.) But I would agree that's not a compelling reason to take a drinking crowd there.
