hi all,

oscon gave out copies of the august 2011 lunux journal magazine for
swag. in browsing it i found a very good intro article on git. it
actually clarified many gray areas for me like the way things are stored
and how they are organized and accessed. it gets into some internal
design stuff to show how it works and then covers basic usage and
such. but understanding the design helped me a lot (note to steve -
teach that!). anyhow, it isn't online yet and won't be free for a couple
of months after that (from what i can see on that site). so look for it
when it comes online.
