About the Job

Akamai is looking for an experienced software engineer with automation
development skills to work with engineering and quality teams to build and
maintain system-level test automation tools. Our automation infrastructure
spans many languages and supports testing highly distributed front-end and
back-end systems. You will gather requirements, design, implement, and
maintain tools and infrastructure used by more than a dozen teams.

About the Team

The System Quality Assurance group is responsible for extensive testing
across all the technologies developed in Engineering. This group is
knowledgeable about all these technologies and focuses on real-world,
end-to-end testing to ensure all of Akamai's systems integrate and perform
flawlessly. In addition, this group has a dedicated team developing and
supporting testing infrastructure, automation, and tools to increase
efficiency and effectiveness within Akamai's Engineering Teams.

Responsibilities:

- Work with the QA and Engineering teams in the design and implementation
  of test automation tools.
- Design, implement, and support the infrastructure used for automated
  testing of complex systems.
- Work in a team-based environment while also be able to drive results
  independently, all with an acute awareness of project deadlines and
  priorities.
- Investigate, debug, and triage issues found with testing infrastructure.
- Work with cross-functional teams to elicit automation requirements and to
  share technologies.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Overall Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in software quality
  and/or software development engineering.
- 3+ years programming experience in Perl.
- 3+ years experience supporting large scale systems: installing,
  maintaining, and troubleshooting.
- 3+ years of technical working experience with UNIX/Linux OS environments
  and HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP.

Desired Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and excellent problem solving/troubleshooting
  skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Experience building test automation frameworks.
- Ruby on Rails development experience.
