Ironically I got one of my best tips by doing what Damian said not to do. He said not to use Hash::Util's lock_keys because it was not safe, it was too easy to get around. However that doesn't matter to me, I know when an anonymous hash has all of its keys, and locking the keys lets me find typos fairly quickly. This is kind of like use strict for anonymous hashes, and speeds my development of log processing scripts.
