hi all,
i proposed a topic for the next meeting (feb 12) and it is a group
project which should be very educational for all who participate. i have
a module which i use but it should be on cpan. it needs plenty of work
to get there. here is a short list of things to do:
pod (has none)
tests (has none)
design improvements
code review and improvements
cpan support
the current code base is at:
http://git.shadowcat.co.uk/gitweb/gitweb.cgi?p=urisagit/CMS-Simple.git;a=summary
the module is CMS::Simple and it generates a set of static pages (html
or anything else) based on templates (it uses Template::Simple). it has
some interesting (at least to me) design ideas and it is used to build
my perlhunter.com site.
at the meeting, i will go over its design principles, do some code
review (yes, you can attend and rip MY code to shreds! please do! :),
and layout the to do list in more detail. one early issue is getting the
initial module setup for cpan using either the venerable h2xs or one of
the Module::Start* modules on cpan.
there is stuff to be done for all skill levels and interests. you can
join later if you want as we will be using this list and git to manage
the project. in fact if someone here is a solid git user, i would like
them to be the source manager for this. my git is minimal and i will
surely screw it up with multiple authors working on this.
so you have a week to review the raw code and chat on the list. i will
write up a general design email soon as well covering the key points.
thanx,
uri
