Sadly, it's not easy to compare. JSON.pm aliases `decode_json` to `JSON::XS::decode_json` or `JSON::PP::decode_json`. JSON::PP has an easy to view history (github), and doesn't show any prototypes there, but I'm not sure how to interpret an XS module to look for prototypes...
