that is rather amazing. it actually taught me more about fourier analysis than i recall from school. i know the concepts and theory but to see a mechanical analog machine generate a spectrum from an input signal is just astounding. and the machine still works with only one part they had to make from scratch (the pen holder). most of the machine made obvious sense to me but the springs doing the addition seemed like the real genius part of it.
