I think there is a java group that also meets on that Tuesday. Pretty sure there are a couple others. Occasionally doing a different day might be worth a try. > On 24 February 2016 at 22:17, Tom Metro <[email protected]> > wrote: > > > Any suggestions on how we can reach out to find new people? > The fsf is having their annual Libre Planet conference in a few weeks, March 19-20 at MIT. Maybe BostonPM could get a table and have a couple people there to talk to the attendees about perl and Boston-pm. Or perhaps there is some company that uses perl that could either get a table or help boston pm get one. > > There is a huge difference in numbers at some of the other groups. I've been to a few meetings for NodeJS and python, among others. They typically have about 150 people. They all have food, some have adult beverages as well. There was a NodeJS meeting this past week I attended. About 150 people attended. They had a caterer, a bar with beer and wine, and there were three companies that made announcements that they were hiring. It would be nice to see the perl meetings grow. I haven't to one in a while, and its partly because of the timing. I either have something else to do or just prefer to not go out that early in the week. As far as perl 6 goes, its great that we finally got to the "The" Christmas. I wonder if many places are using it in production at this point. I'm reluctant to dive into learning something that I won't be able to use at work in the foreseeable future.
