Boulder Film Premier to Benefit Local Nonprofit Moving to End Sexual
Assault
Boulder, CO (OCTOBER 10, 2006) —
On October 12th, Open
Window premiers at the Boulder International Film Series as a
special benefit for local nonprofit Moving to End Sexual Assault (MESA).
The event will be held at 7:00 at the Muenzinger Auditorium on the campus of the
University of Colorado
in Boulder, Colorado.
Open Window initially premiered at the
Sundance Film Festival in January of this year. Mia Goldman is both the
director and screen writer for the film which encounters a rape situation and
its aftermath. MESA
will have a table at the premier with literature and staff to answer questions
about the organization as well as sexual assault. Janine
D’Anniballe, MESA’s
Executive Director will also be presenting prior to the premier of the
favorably reviewed film.
“I’m excited about the Boulder premiere of Open Window,” says
D’Anniballe, “Film is a great medium for getting discussions
started. I’m hoping Open Window
will get people talking about sexual assault and how it affects individuals,
families, and communities.”
Tickets to the Boulder premier of Open Window will be available at the door, so please arrive
at the event early. Tickets cost $5 for general admission and $4 for
students with a valid C.U. Boulder id. All proceeds from the ticket sales
will benefit MESA.

About MESA
MESA was formed in
1972 in response to the abduction, rape and shooting of two young girls.
The organization was originally called Humans Against Rape and Molestation
(HARM) and then Boulder County Rape Crisis Team. In 2001, the
agency’s name was changed to Moving to End Sexual Assault in order to
better reflect the organization’s mission – “We are moving to
end sexual assault and the suffering it causes in our community. Every
person has the right to live free of sexual assault. We challenge all
forms of oppression and recognize their connection to sexual
violence.” MESA
staff and volunteers work to achieve the mission statement by providing
treatment for sexual assault and by providing prevention
education.
