To expand on this.

Typing help(funcname), for example help(dir) opens up the information about this function in the $PAGER (the default pager).

bpythons standard operating procedure has always been to not add 'magic' like special characters doing special things. We could make a shortcut (C-H as C-h is already backspace) to show help, maybe.

Simon

bpython does have this functionality.

enumerate(

This will show the arg spec and docstring for a function. You can also
press F2 to view the source of any Python function.

Please make sure you are using the latest version of bpython.

For bpython it would be good to do get help show as ipython ()
for example: in ipython i can type symbol "?" after something command
and i see help about it.
for example:
""
In [1]: enumerate?
Type: type
Base Class: <type 'type'>
String Form: <type 'enumerate'>
Namespace: Python builtin
Docstring:
enumerate(iterable) -> iterator for index, value of iterable

Return an enumerate object. iterable must be another object that
supports
iteration. The enumerate object yields pairs containing a count
(from
zero) and a value yielded by the iterable argument. enumerate is
useful
    for obtaining an indexed list: (0, seq[0]), (1, seq[1]), (2,
seq[2]), ...

In [2]:

""

I think that alike it bpyton must have this fanctionality too.

Thanks
