Yes this is an issue in the way your terminal redraws its lines. Anyway, Andreas and I discussed that we *could* look at being maybe a bit more efficient with the redrawing for slower terminals but that it isn't a high priority (or has priority at all).
iTerm is a much better terminal emulator on Mac OS X!
