There are a few versions of routers currently available. 802.1g is the most recent. 1b is perfectly fine to use in your home with available equipment. I don't recall the difference between the two...G was supposed to reach further or allow faster or something, but it doesn't matter as the wireless card we use is 802.1b anyhow. The G is backwards compatable, so it's fine if you get it.
