Hi, Carol: If you want a secure connection, this is how you'd do
the WEP connection.
The WEP key should either be 10 or 26 alpha-numeric digits in
length composed of the letters A thru f and the numbers 0 thru 9.
It is, (Though it's not supposed to be) case sensitive.
Normally, the WEP key doesn't require a password.
In some cases, the network is both WEP encrypted and uses MAC
address filtering. MAC address filtering is where the router or
network gateway is given a list of "Authorized" computers that
can access it. If your friend has utilized MAC address
filtering, you'll need to give her the MAC address off of your
wireless card (a 12 digit alpha-numeric number usually starting
with "00"). Also, I've found it helpful NOT to use an assigned
WEP key from my router but to create one of my own using only
digits avoiding the case sensitivity issues.
