[Braillenote] Power on concern

I purchased a used VoiceNote some weeks ago and have been lurking on the 
list since then.  Many of the topics are far over my head at this point. 
However, I have a very basic question.  I had the VoiceNote fully charged 
and stored away for couple of weeks.  I took it out to work on my 
familiarization and found that it would not turn on.  I plugged in the power 
supply and let it charge for 8 hours but it did not respond to the power on 
switch.  I tried a hard reset using the reset button.  It makes a beep but 
no other indication that it is functioning.  My husband thinks it might be a 
battery problem and can be solved by a new rechargeable battery.  Any 
similar experiences and solutions would be welcome.
