Hello An SD or Secure Digital card is smaller than a COMPACT Flash or CF card. SD has a neat little switch on the side that you can lock like a floppy disk that lets you write-protect your data. I don't think I've seen it on the CF card. My wife uses one in her camera You can keep more in your card holders without taking up a lot of space. Hope this answers your question. Richard
