Hi Pam, Actually, when you connect to the pc, you're only connecting to a specific machine. As for file sharing, the only time you could conceivably loose data is if the machine that crashed were accesssing your machine or vice versa, and that is most unlikely.
Also, when you access your network and a pc in this way, the pc cannot access the braillenote, all communication has to come from the MPower end of things. Don't know about the drive you mentioned in another, but if it connects to your pc via usb, it just might work with the MPower. You certainly won't hurt anything to try it. Don
