I can't tell you how I did it but I'm getting and receiving email. What concerns me is that I'm afraid I won't be able to repeat it with my husband's BrailleNote. After all the resets with no results, I deleted the configuration for the umteenth time, set everything up again, and miraculously, it worked, no thanks to Verizon. In fact, they were a hindrance, not a help.

I think it's just a matter of luck and not necessarily what you fill in while setting up everything. Thanks for all the suggestions and I'm sure between all of you who chimed in, I was able to get everything working.
