This may be stating the obvious, but if you have your receive mail set to leave
messages on the server so that you can get them on your PC as well, you will
hear the true number of messages on the server in your pop mailbox, but the
vnqt only downloads those you don't already have. For instance, if you have ten
online but you've already downloaded 5 of them, you will only get the 5 you
haven't got on your device when you check mail the second time when the new 5
were added to the internet. Now if you have emptied your trash, the system has
no way to know you've already seen the messages and so you'll get all ten this
time. This is why sometimes you get the same message twice and sometimes not.
If it can be accounted for on your active vn then you don't get it downloaded
again. If it has been deleted, then the system thinks it's new to you and you
get it downloaded again.

Now if you have your settings set to delete messages after downloading, there
are two ways this can be handled. One is to check on the next check mail round
and delete those already downloaded. The other way is to delete right after
they are downloaded on the same pass. I'm not sure how this software does it.
If the former and you only check mail once then delete and shut down then
restart, you might get repeats. IF that doesn't happen it's working the latter
way.
