I too have been recently experiencing printer problems, though not with an
Mpower, for I am still awaiting the call for the upgrade. My long-serving
faithful Canon bj 85, eventually broke-down and, despite much searching, I have
been unable to replace it and nobody would undertake its repair. The trouble
seems to be that virtually everyone these days requires a colour printer to
produce their photographs; these machines, of course, are rather a waste of
money for us. Now I am assuming that the printer program on both the
Braillenote and Mpower are the same, it would seem to be so. I have eventually
purchased an HP Lazerjet printer, number 1320. Though perhaps a little more
expensive than I had planned, I am extremely pleased with it. It feels a very
well-constructed machine and works in black only. I just connected it and off
it went; thankfully no bother. It's fast and very smooth-running, and will
even deal with filling in bank cheques, a problem with many printers which wil
l not handle small pieces of paper. It is designed in such a way that if, for
some reason it becomes clogged, one can remove panels and get to almost every
part of the printer. I can, as you no doubt appreciate, recommend it. Oh yes,
it has both parallel and usb inputs. Definitely, so far as my experience is
concerned, it could certainly be added to the list of equipment suitable for
the Braillenote family.
Don Cooper.
