Hi Pam, There isn't an option for disconnect directly. You can disconnect in several ways.
You can just turn the unit off as you are doing, you can remove the card, or you can go into the options menu, connectivity, wireless, and where it says "wireless ethernet on" change the Y to an N and that will deactivate your card. If you want to use your MPower for other thing, it's not a bad idea to deactivate the wireless card to save on battery power. Turning the unit off or removing the card also deactivates the wireless card and you must go back into options, connectivity, and wireless to turn it back on. If you just want to surf the net or do email, when you select the connection you want to use, if it is a wireless connection, the card will be activated automatically if it hasn't been already.
