Terry,

The thumb drive would plug into the USB port in the M-power as well as a USB port in the pc. You need to bring out a cable or the USB ports to your PC need to be convenient to get to, otherwise it is very easy to plug in a thumb drive to a USB port. My USB ports are in back so they aren't easy to get to. I'm certain it would be easier to reach the ports on a laptop.
