My older unit has done much the same thing. Try exercising the braille display to see if it will come out of the dulldrums. This usually helps my older machine. Type O with spacebar, I with spacebar, then x without spacebar and you should be exercising your braille display.

Yesterday afternoon when I turned my BrailleNote 32 BT (Keysoft 5.1) on for
use with captioning, the Braille dots appeared very faint. I turned the unit
off and on again, but there was no change in dot quality.

I plugged in the adaptor and let the BN charge for awhile. I also tried
doing a reset to no avail.

When I turn the BrailleNote on, nothing happens. I don't hear a chime or a
Keysoft message. The only thing I "see" are a line of faint full cell
Braille dots across the entire display.

I've had my BrailleNote since January of 2001 and am still using the same
battery. Could this be a sign that the battery has finally given up the
ghost?
