I'm afraid there is no getting around the problem this time, because if the
slot is malfunctioning as you suspect and would seem likely from what you
have described, you won't be able to run the upgrade as it won't run with
the card in an adapter. It has to be in the CF slot itself.

As my compact flash slot is mal functioning, can i buy an adaptor to
insert compact flash cards into, then put that adaptor along wiht the
card, int eh side slot instead?
I could then still use my braillenote without worrying about the back
slot, and i could then i assume, still use the ethernet cards, wireless
cards etcetra
True, ic ouldnt ahve 2 cards in at once but i can put anything i want onto
my microdrive when finished.
