One of the things you can do is to do a test. Use the arrow keys to raise or lower the db setting. I found mine had to be at around 48 db. That seems to calculate to 12 in the regular settings. Any higher, and I get distortion.

I have noticed that when attempting to record a memo on my mPower BT18 using
the internal microphone, the recorded data is distorted and un-usable when
the volume level is 10 or greater.  This presents a problem in that, by
default, the internal record level is set at 12.

Can anyone else varify if, indeed, this is a fact with all mPower units?
