If I were going to write a check for a purchase this large, it wouldn't be a personal check. I'd use a bank check. That way the money is taken out of your account when the check is written. You'll have to ask your bank what it calls that kind of check. I can say bank check in my credit union. That way the company has about a year to cash it and no problems to you. You'll have to ask what your bank's regulations are about these checks. Some places call them casheer's checks. Anyway, they're not personal checks. You sign, and the money is taken out right there. As I said, I have rules about credit cards and debit cards. If the money isn't there, you don't use them. Now personally, I won't jump at every upgrade. I'll wait until Humanware is selling the unit I want. Why should I pay for upgrades that haven't been tested that much? I'll just read the list about the ones who do, but as long as my unit does what I want it to do, I don't care about having the latest thing.
