Hi don;
can I record directly on to the machine like your address book is stored on
the machine? I want to be able to write a check and then record the amount
and to whom the check was written. When I get to my brailler then I can
play the recording and log it in braille. right now I am writing it in
large print and it is getting to be a strain on my eyes. I know my sight is
getting worse and this sounds like a great solution.

Hi Stacey,

Yes, reducing the recording quality will save you some space, but if you are
recording something such as a lecture and happen to be some distance from
the
speaker, the reduced quality of the recording could make it more difficult
to understand.

For something like a lecture lasting 50 minutes or so, you really might want
to get an external device such as a 1 or 2 Gb compact-flash card or a usb
drive such
as Jonathan mentioned yesterday which will hold around 50 Gb.

You can get cf cards that hold more than 2 Gb, but they are still very
expensive and I don't believe have been thoroughly tested with a lot of
devices yet.

But remember, the bn transplant doesn't start until October and probably
prices for these external drives and cf cards will be starting to go down
for the Christmas
rush.
