Just tried it again. After I chose the "Connection Settings" option from the
file menu, the "get connected" window came up. There are no check boxes. By
the way, I'm using JAWS to do this.
In the "get connected window", when I press the tab key, I get the following
buttons:

next
cancel
help

This window also has information that can only be read with the jaws cursor.
Supposedly, when the BN is connected to the PC, the device is automatically
detected. This statement turned out to be false. I then pressed the reset
button on the BN, and no connection came up, just the version number
followed by the main menu.
