I use aids and really have a hard time with synthesized speech through a speaker. I'm sorry to say that this includes the braillenote and MPower speech. Guess that's one reason why I use braille almost exclusively on the bn.
Headphones are a huge help and really make it easy to understand speech however, but recently I got a loop amplifier and strung a wire loop around the room. You can plug output from virtually any audio device into the input of the amp and it is then transmitted via the loop. You turn on the t-coil of your aid or aids to hear the sound. It works even better than headphones for synthesized speech including the bn speech. I started out with the Artic Synphonics 200 speech which dates me I guess and finally settled on the accent and later the trippletalk speech for fast response. However, I really must say that the bn speech is very good in my opinion and I really prefer it to eloquence or any of the other software synths and it's a darned sight more responsive when you're browsing text or entering input. I'd rather have the processor of my MPower handling data, music and such as opposed to fool with software speech. Don
