Hi, Listers. Here is how to set up your bn to use it with your cell phone to browse the net or get email with verizon. First, you need to get a serial cable for your cell phone. Verizon does not support bluetooth data transfer at this time. I also don't know if this works with an MPower using a USB cable.
To set up for the braille note:
Set the cell phone for serial. It will probably be set for USB. How to do this depends on the menus on your particular cell phone.
Set the baud rate on the cell phone to 19200
Since the MPower's baud rate is set at 115200, you might have to set the cell phone for the same. It should be set for this by default.
I haven't tested this on an MPower, but it works great on a bn classic.
If there is a way to slow down the serial port on an MPower, I haven't found out what it is yet.
Next, create a new modem configuration from the configuration menu.
Enter the phone number as #777.
Note the pound or number sign. It must be present.
User name and password are both qnc.
Everything else can pretty much be left at defaults. I think I have mine set to wait for dial tone.
In the initialization string prompt, enter the following:
at$qcmdr=2; at$qcqnc=1
At the end of this string, enter <cr> So, that is cr surrounded by less than and greater than signs. Verizon has two modes for downloading data. The one called national access costs depending on how many megs you want to download. You can also pay as you go at 1.5 cents per k.
However, there is a slower 14.4 kbps rate which you do not have to pay for.
I have been using this for a year and a half with the bn classic.
Hope this helps.
