Hi Pam,

   If you've tried changing the recording level, the bit depth (8 or 16) 
and the sample rate (default is 22.5 KiloHertz) and both internal and 
external microphones then I'm puzzled.  If you can email me a snippet of 
the sound file demonstrating the effect I'd like to have a look, since I'm 
playing with some audio features at the moment.

theoretically, I'd expect the problem to be caused by recording at 8-bit 
or your bird whistling at too high a frequency! <grin> I'll see if I 
recreate the problem on my set up.
