I just keep writing since I can check the Braille and it comes back on like
magic.
I decided not to ask how that happened since I don't know why it happened in
the first place.

I too have experienced this. I simply turn the speech off, speech on
request, off, then back on again rather than reset. This has worked for
me even though it too is a pain! Hope they fix the bug.
