Dear Lisa,
First, translate the .brf files into text. Open the text file. At the
beginning of the file, put in the code so the file will be translated into
grade 1 braille. I don't know the BT commands for doing this. Now, go to
the end of the file and put in the code for grade 2. Translate the text
file into braille. Your braille file will be in grade 1.

Subject: [Braillenote] reading BRF files in grade 1
Hi Listers,
I was wondering if there is a way to read BRF files in Grade 1. I was
wanting to download some books from NLS and Bookshare to read them in
Grade 1. Not for me to read but for my students to read them. I've tried
reviewing the options when I open the books changing the files to text
files. I've tried renaming the files with txt extensions and both of
these ideas have failed. I guess another option would be to emboss these
BRF files but how do I emboss with the BN in Grade 1?
I know I've posted about this before I'm sorry I forgot the directions.
I'll save them this time I promise. Thank you for your time and your
assistance.
Lisa
