Hi Everyone,
I apologize for the short notice of this request for help. I looked in the
user's guide under DSL and found nothing. I leave for the States Monday
afternoon (States time). I'm hoping to stay with a friend who accesses the
Internet through his DSL connection. I was hoping to configure my BN BT for
DSL. I was planning to use my Earthlink email account. My questions are
listed below. If anyone has additional advice that would be helpful.

1. The equipment I'm planning to bring along with the Braillenote: Etheernet
card, CD that contains Actic sync, and the serial cable. My friend suggested I
bring the cable that connects to the Ethenernet card which also connects to the
router. The technicians at the ISP place here call it a CAT 5 cable I'm not
sure if this name is corrcct. I don't want to bring this cable because mine is
100 feet long. Is there any additional equiMent I need to bring?

2. Is the DSL connection the same as setting up a network connection? If not
what are the differences?

3. For email I'm guessing I will need to create two entries in the
connectivity settings one for sending out email and one for receiving. This is
the only way it works from my mother's dial-up connection since using Earthlink
as an tmtp is long-distance from her house and my friend's house. What I mean
is the dial-up number for Earthlink is long-distance. Here in Guam I'm able to
use my Etheernet card with a network connection to send and receive email. I
receive it through Earthlink and send it out through my local ISP. It's
confusing but it works great. I don't have to create two separate entries in
the connectivity settings here.

My friend is knowledgeable about computers so in your responses if you use
technical words they will make sense to him. I'm planning to forward your
responses to him. He said if DSL doesn't work I could use dial-up, but he
would need to chanhe settings on his computer.

Thank you for your time and your help. Once again I apologize for the short
notice.

Lisa
